Youm-e-Ali: Sindh govt imposes ban on pillion riding
Karachi (June 14, 2017): The Sindh government has issued notifications imposing ban on pillion riding, and the use of ‘heli-cams’ for media coverage on the eve of Youm-e-Ali in Karachi and Hyderabad.
Moreover, cellular services are also expected to be suspended in the cities. The ban will be effective from midnight on Friday in Karachi and Hyderabad.
However, the pillion riding ban will not be applicable to women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, journalists, personnel of law enforcement agencies/ security agencies in uniform and employees of the essential services.
Another similar notification issued by the provincial government banned the use of “heli-cams” by media outlets for video recording the processions to avoid any untoward incident.
