Did Not Rush to AFIC Rawalpindi on JIT Summon: Shahbaz Sharif
Islamabad (June 17, 2017): Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said that he and the Prime Minister had utmost respect for law and appeared before the JIT.
Talking to media after appearing before the Panama JIT, Shahbaz Shairf said that on response to JIT summon he did not rushed to Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology and left for London complaining backache.
He said that the JIT had called him to appear before it regarding Panama case.
“On Thursday, the Prime Minister appeared before the JIT and wrote a new chapter in country’s history that a sitting prime minister appeared before a JIT,” he added saying that today a new chapter was also added as a siting chief minister of a province appeared first time before such a panel.
“By appearing before the JIT, I and PM served the interests of law which demonstrates that how much the elected politicians have respect for law and courts,” he added.
“On the contrary, the attitude of those, who toppled government on gun points, towards law and constitution is before everyone,” he added.
“I did not rushed to Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology in response to JIT summon rather appeared before the JIT and present my stance with due respect,” he added.
He added that he had backache problem for a long time but did not try to make it an excuses to avoid appearing before the JIT.
“This is not the first time Sharif family’s accountability was being carried out rather it was started from 1972 with the seizure of Ittefaq Foundry,” he added.
